The chromite Process by Wet high intensity magnetic separator
It is well known that the gravity separation is widely applied in chromite separation in South Africa. But the recovery is limited. By traditional gravity separation, the recovery is around 45% generally. But with development of the mineral resources , the property of the ore getting worse, more and more lower grade of the chromite ore are put in to processing, so increasing the recovery is getting more and more important to the operators.
LONGI has been devoting the process flow to use WHIMS to beneficiate chromite, which achieves excellent performance on the lower grade chromite ore. The new processing flow with two stages of magnetic separations, which can improved the Cr grade from 25% to 40% under 65% recovery rate or even higher.
LONGI also explored the flow that using Magnetic separation as rougher enrichment, and improve the grade of concentrate by gravity separation, which achieved successful results at the sites.
